The philosophy of doing what is right, not easy, in an efficient way, is what drives me. I am an empathetic listener and collaborator grounded in common sense. I strive to make meaningful, sustainable, inclusive changes for people, organizations, and systems by gathering and carefully analyzing quantitative and qualitative information and improving or designing pragmatic solutions incorporating technology.

I hold an H.B.Arts Sc. and M.Sc. from McMaster University. My Master’s thesis in biochemistry was completed in the Cancer Research Group, and I fulfilled my B.Ed. Intermediate/Senior in Science and Math at the University of Toronto.

I bring over 20 years of progressive healthcare experience in the private and public sectors. My parallel interests in advanced science and education led me to Merck Canada. In this global pharmaceutical company, I spent 15 years working and managing in sales, marketing, training, scientific affairs, and patient health management. I have worked and learned from a wide variety of health professionals, local primary care providers, to national and international thought leaders, identifying best practices and translating them into strategy and operations that resulted in meaningful change.

I have supported national, provincial and local strategic and operational planning. Using Lean and Change Management approaches, I worked with Family Health Teams across Ontario, improving patient outcomes through program development and quality improvement projects related to vaccine implementation programs and chronic disease prevention and management.

I joined the Mississauga Halton Local Health Integration Network (MHLHIN) in 2012 as a Senior Lead in Health System Performance, responsible for public funding and performance for community providers in Community Mental Health and Addictions, Community Health Centres, Acquired Brain Injury, Chronic Disease Prevention and Management and Long-Term Care.

I have continued to support nonprofit and community organizations as a consultant, completing projects and supporting those organizations whose dedication and passion serve people and communities. Projects have included stakeholder consultation and engagement, completing environmental scans and providing recommendations for coordinating services across sectors. I joined the faculty at Conestoga College, returning to my education roots to share my experiences with and have my horizons expanded by international students in the Health Care Administration and Service Management program. Courses taught include Managing and Engaging Collaboration, Leadership, Health Policy, and Digital Integrations for Health Care Applications.

I am a lifelong learner and am energized when connecting with people who expand my perspectives. I enjoy tea and a good book; having both while camping is bliss. Much of my time is currently spent enthusiastically cheering on my children and volunteering at various sporting events.
